The magnificent Miners’ Home, as it was called, on Blackpool prom is hardly passed without a quick glance.
Situated on over seven acres of grounds, the now-private residence was once a convalescent facility for miners recuperating from illnesses and injuries sustained during a career working in the coal seams. They came to Blackpool for the fresh air. But it was an odd location for those of us who live in Blackpool. These images offer a unique look inside the Baroque-style building. Although the interior may not live up to the building’s magnificent façade, many former miners found solace there, believing it to be the best hotel in the area.
