Police close road after fatal 5-car crash in Bradford

The incident claimed the life of a 33-year-old motorcyclist; police have not released any information regarding the subsequent altercation.

In a strange turn of events, a driver is being charged with attempted murder in connection with a fight that happened in the Port Dover region after a five-vehicle crash on Saturday that claimed the life of a motorcyclist from Sudbury.

At approximately 4:55 p.m. on September 14, five vehicles collided on Highway 6 close to Blueline Road in Port Dover, causing the Norfolk detachment of the OPP to be called to the scene.

Three motorcycles, an SUV, and a pick-up truck were found to have been involved in the collision, according to the investigation. The 33-year-old Sudbury resident who was a passenger on one of the motorcycles was declared dead at the scene (OPP does not disclose the gender of individuals they deal with). The rider of the identical motorbike was taken to a trauma centre after suffering severe injuries.

A second motorcycle’s rider was taken to a nearby hospital with only minor wounds. There were four other car occupants who were unharmed.

According to police, there was an altercation following the collision, and one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The details of the altercation were not provided by the police.

One person was detained and accused of the following after the investigation’s conclusion:

Risky procedure
Hazardous procedure that could injure someone
Risky procedure that ends in death
Having a weapon for a risky purpose
A murderous attempt
The accused has been remanded into custody, according to police, and is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on September 17 for a bail hearing.

Information regarding the accused’s age, place of residence, and connection to the earlier collision was not disclosed in the OPP press release.

Every Friday the 13th, Port Dover hosts a motorbike rally, as many people know. Over the course of the weekend, the decades-old event was predicted to draw in roughly 100,000 people.

A publication ban has been issued, according to the police press release, and no further information will be made public.

The local OPP is still investigating the incident. The Norfolk County OPP is requesting that anyone who was in the vicinity during the collision, has dash cam footage, or is a local resident and may have security footage get in touch with them.
