Jack Clarke has become a key player for the Black Cats
Before the January transfer market opens, Brentford and Burnley are both showing interest in Sunderland winger Jack Clarke.
Since joining the team in January 2022, Clarke has played a significant role for Sunderland, scoring 19 goals and dishing out 16 assists in 82 appearances.
Despite interest, Sunderland wants to keep Clarke, whose contract has three more years.
Prior to the January transfer window, Sunderland winger Jack Clarke appears to be garnering a lot of interest from the Premier League.
That comes after a report from Football Insider indicated that the 22-year-old is being pursued by both Brentford and Burnley.
How has Clarke performed thus far for Sunderland?
In the January 2022 transfer window, Clarke originally moved to Sunderland on loan from Tottenham. During his initial few months at the Stadium of Light, Clarke assisted the team in gaining promotion from League One to the Championship.
After that, the winger made his transfer to Sunderland permanent in the summer of 2022. He was a crucial component in the club’s run to the Championship Play-Offs the previous campaign, when they lost out on promotion to Luton Town after losing to them in the semi-finals.
Clarke, though, has once again played a key role in Sunderland’s successful start to the current campaign.
In 82 appearances across all competitions for the Black Cats, the winger has tallied 19 goals and 16 assists.
As the January transfer window draws near, it appears that the 22-year-old is already drawing some interest as a result of that form.
In January, who is considering signing Clarke?
The two Premier League teams Brentford and Burnley are both interested in the winger, according to the most recent report from Football Insider.
Following their promotion from the Championship at the end of the previous season, Burnley is believed to have had a deal for Clarke for just over £10 million rejected in the summer.
The winger’s performance at the start of this season is reported to have impressed the Clarets, who are said to have kept an eye on him.
Sunderland are reportedly preparing for interest in Clarke when the market reopens at the beginning of the year as Brentford is also interested in the 22-year-old.
Given the winger’s significance to Tony Mowbray’s team, the Black Cats are reportedly eager to keep him.
Sunderland is in a good position to negotiate any offers that come in for Clarke because he has three years left on his contract with them, which keeps him at the Stadium of Light through the end of the 2025–26 season.
What position does Sunderland hold in the Championship table?
Despite losing to Middlesbrough in the Saturday afternoon derby, Sunderland has had a good start to the season.
The Black Cats are now ranked fourth in the standings with 19 points from their first 11 league games.
After the international break, Tony Mowbray’s team will resume play on Saturday, October 21 when they travel to Stoke City.
Would Brentford or Burnley be wise to sign Jack Clarke?
It would seem like this would be a wise signing on the part of one of these teams.”
The winger has excelled in the Championship for the past year or so, and it appears he may soon be prepared to go up to the Premier League.
In fact, you get the impression that he will only get better with time, so even at the age of 22, he has a lot of potential.
It would not be surprising to witness a war for his services once the window opens at the turn of the year because interest in the future would also make this a victory for whoever would sign him.
