West Ham have not beaten Brentford in the Premier League since their promotion to the top flight.
The Bees are looking for a sixth victory over the Hammers at the London Stadium on Monday night.
Without a win in eight attempts so far in 2024, West Ham fans are fearing the worst.
Especially with Ivan Toney leading the line for Brentford with major question marks over the form of West Ham’s first choice defensive duo Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd.
It’s just at the back where David Moyes has problems, though.
West Ham misfiring at both ends
Just as worryingly as it started to ship goals, this Hammers team has ceased scoring goals.
Since the year began, West Ham has surrendered 16 goals and scored only 4.
Many Hammers supporters are dissatisfied with the strategy and style of play. Even the predetermined targets have stopped working.
The manager’s future is therefore seriously under doubt.
Moyes had better hope that the owners are unaware of what Brentford has posted about West Ham online.
Brentford official site goes in on Moyes’ West Ham
Websites for game clubs typically have very positive and courteous things to say about the adversary.
Not Brentford, though. Their official match preview has seen them tearing into West Ham.
West Ham is said to “lack a clear identity and overarching tactical principle” on the Bees website.
Additionally, a terrible fact regarding Moyes’ West Ham team that many supporters might not be aware of has been brought up by tonight’s opponents.
The Hammers have only scored nine goals at home this season from open play.
West Ham has struggled this season to switch from defence to attack with much pace and success, particularly when playing at home. Perhaps as a result of David Moyes’s struggle to fit so many central midfielders into his starting lineup, 45% of their passes when playing at home occur in the centre third of the game, according to the Brentford preview.
With a team that lacks a distinct identity and overall tactical philosophy, West Ham appears to be caught between gameplans at the moment, therefore Brentford will probably have room on the counter.
Hammers ‘lack identity’ say Bees
“This season, Brentford has scored seven goals from open play away from home, while West Ham has only scored nine goals at home.”
Moyes is hoping that people like David Sullivan aren’t aware of the preview. thus it is especially damaging.
And the Scot will hang it on the wall of the dressing room if he has any common sense.
In an FA Cup match, Brentford was defeated by West Ham.
Additionally, Moyes has added talisman Lucas Paqueta back into the London Derby roster.
So let’s hope that after a terrible few months, things are starting to become better.
