It appears that he is using every chance to declare his disinterest in playing for the team that paid £15 million for his services.
Even though he is a divisive character at best, he is typically expected to win over the fans when he plays for your team. But after an absolutely wild first season at Goodison Park, that was far from the truth.
He is currently treating Brentford as though he had signed a permanent contract, having since chastised Evertonians for how they treated him throughout that season.
It’s unlikely that his most recent remarks will rekindle his friendship with Everton either.
What Neal Maupay did after Everton’s game vs Brighton
Lewis Dunk scored an equaliser with a header after Brighton and Hove Albion conceded late in the game, robbing Sean Dyche of two crucial points.
Understandably, he was left incensed, and the fans who were going up north were left feeling defeated after taking a stomach hit. Unbridled jubilation was only four minutes away.
Maupay, who wasted no time in messaging the 32-year-old center-back on Instagram, added insult to injury.
The French striker was discovered in the comments section of the towering defender’s post commemorating his 400th league appearance for the Seagulls, a historic achievement.
“My Skipper,” he penned. A totally insensitive move that saw an Everton employee praise the man who had just prevented the Toffees from relegation.
However, this is the behaviour from Maupay that we have grown accustomed to.
Neal Maupay is burning Everton bridges
Given his small size and lack of skill, it was unlikely that he would have ever returned to play under Dyche, but he has handled the process of expressing his wish to go poorly.
Although he scored a whopping 4.80 predicted goals in the previous campaign, he only managed one league goal. Although Dominic Calvert-Lewin may have outperformed him, the public’s perception is shaped by the two players’ different mindsets.
Because he tries his hardest and often keeps his head down, the Englishman is nevertheless well-liked.
But ever since departing, Maupay has burned a lot of bridges, and the fan base’s rising dislike for the 27-year-old is understandable.
His post-Dunk remark is only one in a long string of indiscretions that have made it impossible for him to continue living in Merseyside.
