Regarding the death of Brighton & Hove Albion WFC center-back Jorelyn Carabali’s brother, a guy has been taken into custody. Prosecutors said that the suspect has been placed under remand in detention until a formal, continuing investigation is conducted, following the arrest on Sunday.

The man who shot him six times, according to the police, got into an argument with the other patron of the nightclub and fled to hunt for a gun. According to reports, the suspect and Paulo had a fight a year earlier. At the time, authorities claimed they thought the murder might have been connected to Jorelyn’s brother’s purported job as a loan shark.

Cali prosecution chief Sandra Eugenia Gonzalez Mina said on Sunday: “The suspected killer of the brother of our Colombian international footballer Jorelyn Carabali has been detained and sent to prison pending a formal ongoing investigation.

“The individual who allegedly killed Jorelyn’s brother has been identified, thanks to the efforts of the police and prosecutors. The victim took six shots, four of which were to the face.

“The evidence that has been gathered thus far indicates that the accused aggressor had an argument with the victim in the disco that night and a year prior, leaving the nightclub to obtain a firearm before coming back and shooting him.”

Carabali signed for Brighton in September

“Thanks to the work of police and prosecutors the identity of the man who allegedly assassinated Jorelyn’s brother has been established. The victim was shot six times, four in the face.

“The evidence gathered so far points to the alleged aggressor having a row in the disco that night with the victim as well as a year ago and leaving the nightclub to get a firearm before returning and shooting him.”

Carabali found out the news on a grounded plane

Jocelyn, a 25-cap Colombia international who was signed by Brighton on a free transfer in the summer from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro, found out the heartbreaking news while she was on a grounded plane. “We were five minutes away from take-off when I got a call from my brother’s girlfriend which I found strange,” she told Colombian media in August.

“In the middle of her pain, she shouted: “They’ve killed Paulo. I was so stunned from the impact I didn’t understand at first what she was saying. She repeated it again and I threw the phone and began to scream. My brother’s killer came to the area he was in looking for an argument. My brother didn’t want problems because he was with his girlfriend and friends. His friends calmed him down at first but then he carried on with the row.

“There was a scuffle and the other man said he didn’t fight with his fists. He left and went to get a gun and came back and my brother’s girlfriend screamed, ‘Paulo, run.’ He did try to save his life but it was impossible. The only thing we want now is to see justice done.”
