Brighton & Hove Albion fans got involved in some trouble with Olympique Marseille supporters in France, the local media reports

According to La Provence, ‘clashes’ occurred in Marseille’s city center on Wednesday evening.

According to reports, Brighton and Marseille fans ‘planned to meet’ in the Cours Julien, with 200 to 300 fans facing one other.

Social media videos show the gangs chasing each other until the police arrived with tear gas grenades to disperse them.

According to La Provence, there have been no injuries and no arrests, despite the ‘projectiles’ thrown during the evening. It’s said the police had a special scheme to intervene.

The outlet also writes that shortly after midnight, all fans were back to their accommodation, and no further trouble was seen.

On the other hand, La Provence now features a story highlighting the party made by Brighton fans on their way to the stadium, claiming there’s a ‘soft, festive and peaceful’ atmosphere among them.

They say that after the clashes last night the mood today is a much better one, with security ‘reinforced’ to ensure there is no further issues before tonight’s game
