Broncos confirm six players that will, futures remain unclear..

The only players confirmed to be out of the Brisbane Broncos’ roster at this point are Herbie Farnworth, Thomas Flegler, andC Palasia. The team has left the futures of six players up in the air.

As Brisbane’s losses at the end of 2023, the trio joins Ethan Quai-Ward, who left for the Canterbury Bulldogs in the middle of the season.

As of right now, the team has only signed Fletcher Baker. Six players are approaching the end of their contracts and have not yet made a decision on their futures, thus roster places will be up for grabs in 2024.

Among them, Corey Oates stands out the most. He refused his player option for 2024, though, and the two have been in talks with the team ever since.

Though a deal hasn’t been finalized yet, he has openly said that he wants to play rugby league at Red Hill and has made this clear on multiple occasions.

Josh Rogers, who debuted in the NRL in Round 27 at five-eighth as Kevin Walters rested most of Brisbane’s best 17, was on a development deal in 2023. The report that he has been promoted to a Top 30 agreement was made in early September, but the club has not yet confirmed it.

Although Logan Bayloiss-Brow and Brendan Frei have reportedly been dismissed by the Broncos, they were not mentioned in Brisbane’s statement of their departure on Thursday morning.

Jordan Pereira and Tyson Smoothy are the other players on the list.

Pereira just appeared once in 2023, and there hasn’t been any conjecture about his future as of yet. During his tenure with the Broncos (from the beginning of 2022) and St George Illawarra Dragons (from 2018 to 2021), he has totaled 14 tries in 45 NRL games.

Smoothy’s contract, however, might very likely be extended; squad balance is a topic of discussion at Red Hill.

Brisbane’s roster already includes Blake Mozer, Cory Paix, and Billy Walters. Mozer is considered a future star dummy half, while Walters has performed admirably for Brisbane lately.

However, recent reports have stated that Paix, who was passed over for a bench position in the second half ofmay decide to depart the team in 2024, allowing the Broncos to rationalize Smoothy’s re-signing.
