You Want Stability – Former Bristol City Star Urges Club To Make Nigel Pearson Decision

Former Bristol City star Gary Owers believes that the Robins hierarchy need to sort out Nigel Pearson’s future soon, as he thinks the club need stability going into the next transfer window.

In February 2021, Pearson began leading Bristol City under a temporary contract; in April of that same year, he inked a three-year agreement.

The 60-year-old tactician’s contract expires in the summer, and rumours have it that Bristol City management hasn’t yet extended an offer to him.

Owers noted that Bristol City cannot schedule a transfer window while managing a manager whose future is uncertain, and he thinks that delaying a decision regarding Pearson’s future may cost them in the upcoming window.

He is getting closer to his deal with each passing week. On BBC Radio Bristol, Owers asked, “So how long do you wait?”

“They may say, ‘Let’s head into March,’ but there’s no way.

“I believe you need to implement something before the next window.

“You cannot approach a manager who is trying to purchase players and say, ‘Well, I could be gone down the road in two weeks,’ if you are trying to recruit players.

“You seek consistency.”

With 18 points in the Championship this season, Bristol City is just two points behind West Bromwich Albion, who hold the final playoff berth, in the league standings.
