Bristol Rovers have let the striker train with them over recent times to help build up his fitness levels
After parting ways with Cardiff City in the summer of 2022, Vassell, 30, became a free agent.
Although he recently joined with Bath City, a non-league team, the Gas will continue to monitor his progress. According to BristolLive, Matt Taylor, the manager of The Gas, stated: “It was a good move for him and everyone.” Not even a move, simply a signing for Bath in the hopes of earning some meaningful playing time.
“I believe he entered the game on Tuesday night, and Jamie McAllister was present, but it will only last for ten or fifteen minutes because he hasn’t played in four years. Before we can begin evaluating him and determining whether there are any opportunities with ourselves, we must first build it for the future.”
Bristol Rovers plan
Bristol Rovers have a big summer ahead as Taylor looks to put his own stamp on the squad.
Vassell would be a risk-free addition on a free and would provide them with more competition and depth up top in League One.
If he can stay healthy, he might end up being a wise addition for them the next season—that is, if he can establish himself right away at Bath before the season ends.
Vassell progressed through the ranks at Plymouth Argyle, making ten appearances for the first team while on loan at teams like Weymouth and Truro City.
After that, he became a permanent member of the latter, until Luton Town signed him in 2016.
After playing for the Hatters in League Two for two years, scoring sixteen goals in fifty-five appearances, the forward was traded to Birmingham City.
A few years later, Cardiff City acquired him, but injury issues plagued him during his stay in Wales. Before the Bluebirds decided to let him go, he only made three appearances for them.
He has lately been allowed to train with Bristol Rovers, who will return to play this weekend when they travel to Leyton Orient.
