Bristol Rovers Overpowwer Newport County move for Cardiff City player deal

According to Football League World, Bristol Rovers and Newport County are showing interest in Cardiff City forward Michael Reindorf in anticipation of a possible January window raid.

Both teams are looking to bolster their striking units for the second half of the season, and Reindorf, 19, is a target for a loan.

After being released by Championship rivals Norwich City, the adaptable teenager, who can play both attacking midfield and striking, moved to the Welsh capital in the summer.

Bristol Rovers and Newport County keen on Michael Reindorf

Initially added to Cardiff’s U21 squad, it looked as though the attacker was going to have to wait quite a while for a first-team opportunity.

But he made his first-team debut against Inigo Calderon’s Rovers back in August 2024 and has made a handful of first-team appearances this season.

Only two of those displays came in the league though – and a loan exit for the 19-year-old could be beneficial for him in his quest to develop.

FLW understands League One side Rovers and League Two outfit Newport are both interested in securing his services for the remainder of the season, but it’s unclear whether a loan move for the teenager will be sanctioned by the Bluebirds.

Bristol Rovers will be desperate to strengthen their striker department

Promise Omochere has occasionally excelled for Rovers, but his prolonged absence is a serious setback.

Given how essential he was for his last club, Fleetwood Town, it is not surprising that he has been able to make an impression for the third-tier team.

He can be replaced by players like Chris Martin and Gatlin O’Donkor. However, this season, the former, who is now on loan from Oxford United, has failed to significantly impact the final third.

Additionally, as Martin is most likely nearing the end of his career, it would be beneficial to minimise his playing time.

Reindorf might be the man Rovers need to lift them up the table and keep them out of danger of relegation if he signs on.
