With great pleasure, Bristol Rovers Football Club announces that all of the first team personnel will be available to assist the squad for the balance of the 2023–2024 campaign.
Jamie McAllister becomes an assistant manager for the team. Before joining the Gas earlier this season, McAllister served as Lee Johnson’s assistant at Sunderland and Hibernian. He spent stints as a player at Aberdeen, Hearts and Livingston.
Additionally, Wayne Carlisle will be joining the team as a coach for individual player development. Throughout his playing career, Wayne played for a number of teams, most notably Bristol Rovers, Crystal Palace, Swindon Town, Leyton Orient, and Exeter. Wayne spent two years at the club, making 71 appearances and scoring 14 goals. Wayne later joined Exeter as a youth coach in 2011.
Reentering the team as a first-team coach is Kevin Bond. The former coach of Portsmouth, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur departed Rovers in October 2022 after being instrumental in our promotion to League One that same year.
After making the transition from a consistent player on the team sheet to coaching, Anssi Jaakola is still the club’s goalkeeping coach. Anssi used to play for Reading, Kilmarnock, and Ajax Cape Town, as well as represent Finland.
Academy Manager Byron Anthony will take on his former responsibilities, but he will also be spending time with the First Team. His focus will be on strengthening the bond between the academy and the First Team, which will help pave the road for future generations.
