‘Point to prove’: Jake Garrett’s first words as Bristol Rovers confirm midfield loan signing
Bristol Rovers have made the loan signing of midfielder Jake Garrett from Blackburn Rovers their 12th addition this summer
After it was reported that the midfielder will be loaned to Bristol Rovers from Blackburn Rovers, Jake Garrett stated he felt he had something to prove.
The 21-year-old joins Rovers as their 12th summer addition, giving them another option in a fairly healthy midfield that already includes Jamie Lindsay, Grant Ward, and Kamil Conteh. Given that players like Isaac Hutchinson, Luke McCormick, and Kofi Shaw are more attack-oriented, Garrett should expect to face competition from these players.
The dynamic midfielder, who made 28 appearances last season—21 of which were in the Championship—was named Blackburn’s Young Player of the Season. He finished with four goals and two assists.
Garrett, who came through the Lancashire team’s youth program, acknowledged that this is his first loan period and that he is up to the challenge. The recent addition to Bristol Rovers informed club media, “I am really excited to join Bristol Rovers.” I believe I need to make a point. In League One, I want to be able to demonstrate my abilities every single week. I’m willing to take on the physical challenge, fight valiantly, and contribute significantly to the squad.
My goal is to participate in as many games as I can and make a good impact on the squad. I’ll put in a lot of effort in my daily workouts to make sure I’m ready for the weekend’s matches.
“I’ve had some really good discussions with the manager so far and it’s become apparent that the way the club wants to play suits me, and I’m eager to be a part of it and to make a positive impact.
“Right from the start of the transfer process, the club has made it clear that they really wanted me to join, which caught my attention. I hope I can hit the ground running and show what I can do.”
