Burnley board blame ‘poor signings’ for imminent’

Football Insider has received evidence stating that Burnley executives attribute their anticipated relegation to their poor signings rather than Vincent Kompany.

It is alleged that the Clarets attempted to stay in the Premier League by spending more than £90 million on new players last summer.

According to Football Insider, they consider several of their recent additions to be “poor” and unsuited for the premier league, according to well-placed sources.

They acquired players like Aaron Ramsey from Aston Villa, Sander Berge from Sheffield United, and Dara O’Shea from West Brom, but none of them have been able to keep the team out of the relegation dogfight.

After an outstanding Championship season the previous year, manager Kompany has found it difficult to succeed in the Premier League.

Burnley point blame on expected Premier League relegation

However, sources have told Football Insider (1 March) that he is expected to remain at Turf Moor even if the club returns to the second tier.

The board believe that he is the right man to guide them immediately back to the Premier League after his 101-point haul last season as Championship winners.

With just 13 points at the moment, the Clarets are 11 points below Nottingham Forest, who are in 17th position.

Only the Blades have a worse defensive record in the league than them. They have the second-worst record overall.

In 26 Premier League games, they have only earned three victories; their most recent came in late December when they defeated Fulham 2-0 on the road.

After losing 3-0 against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, Burnley is currently ranked 19th in the Premier League standings (24 February).

Their next game is on Sunday afternoon, March 3, at Turf Moor against Bournemouth.
