Burnley Football Club second most affordable for local fans’

New research has revealed that Burnley Football Club is the second most affordable club for local fans.

According to the data from Wholesale Disposable Vapes, Manchester City came out top as the most affordable football club for local supporters while Burnley and Manchester United have come second and third place respectively, with local people more able to regularly support the team than other clubs.

While football undoubtedly holds global appeal, the sport is ultimately rooted in local communities. With season tickets setting fans back hundreds – if not thousands – of pounds, and disparities in income and cost of living across different areas of the UK, the question of how affordable football is to locals is a valid one.

Season tickets for Man City range in price from £385 to £1,030, while those for Burnley Football Club cost between £335 and £500.
While the cheapest season ticket option from Burnley represents 2.98% of disposable income for homeowners and 2.98% for renters, it is just 2.51% of the average disposable income for local homeowners and 2.44% for local renters.

“The data has shown that the North West’s consistent commitment to the sport has not gone unrewarded by some of the region’s clubs, with some of the most affordable ticket prices in the country,” a representative from Wholesale Disposable Vapes said.

“It’s also great that Burnley, a team in the North West Premier League, is within the budget of Lancashire fans.”

The average income for each Premier League team in each local authority region, as well as the average annual cost of private renting and property price, were used to produce the league table.

After subtracting the cost of living and annual rental/mortgage payments (based on a 20-year, 2% interest term with 25% of the average house price paid off in the case of mortgages) from the average annual take-home pay, the data looked at the annual cost of living in each city using user-generated data (where that data didn’t exist in places like Luton and Burnley, used the national average figure). This left a theoretical figure for annual disposable income. The price of each season ticket, from the least expensive to the most expensive club was then calculated as a percentage of that figure to leave the final table.
