Burnley made late transfer decision after Hull City bid accepted’

The winger was an early January target for the promotion-chasing Tigers

Manuel Benson looks set to stay at Burnley and fight for a place in the second half of the Premier League season, having turned down a host of loan moves to the Championship.

Hull City agreed a deal with the Clarets at the start of January to sign the 26-year-old winger but the move was always in the hands of the player with the Championship promotion-winner understandably wanting to keep his options open.

Leeds United and Southampton were also interested in signing the Belgian winger, while the Tigers decided to move elsewhere after it became apparent that Benson was unlikely to leave Turf Moor.

Kompany udtalte til Burnley Express: “I’m definitely not against keeping the group together because they’re all lads that I’ve come to know and have done everything I’ve asked them to do.”

“There’s not even a thought on my part that these guys have to go. The only thing is that some players, and it’s easy for you to look at the list of players that haven’t played as much, they have a desire to play, and we have to respect that as well.
