Over recent years, Burnley have live something of a yo-yo existence.
They currently find themselves third in the Championship after relegation from the Premier League last season and all things point towards a rather positive season for the Clarets under Scott Parker.
The English boss’ assistant Henrik Jensen, who was appointed by Burnley in the summer, has now spoken to TipsBladet about his new club and the project at hand.
Jensen explained there’s a positive atmosphere at Turf Moor, going on to state that the Premier League is indeed the club’s goal this season.
“It just fits together really well, and the squad has been outstanding. There is an incredibly great work ethic, and these are some incredibly talented players.
“It’s a huge energy in the different stadiums in the Championship and it’s some incredibly lively games. Many things are happening. There is a positive vibe around our team.”
The Burnley assistant boss described the Championship as a highly competitive league and believes about ten teams have a chance of going up.
“Our goal is to get back to the Premier League as soon as possible, and we hope that will already be the first attempt.
“The Championship is a mega-competitive league with 24 teams, and there are probably ten teams that have the ambition to get into the Premier League.”
Jensen also stated that the focus from the staff is to strengthen relationships at the club, while also trying to impose a playing style that Parker wants.
“We try to dress the team well for the individual match and the style of play, so that it gets under everyone’s skin. We still need to strengthen the relationships on the pitch, and that is crucial for us.”
The Clarets lost more than ten players in the summer and this is a bit of a transitional season for them, as new players are trying to make a mark.
Achieving promotion in a transitional season like this would be a big achievement for Parker and his staff.
