‘No miracle recipe’: Kompany addresses Burnley’s shortcomings at both ends’

Vincent Kompany admits there’s no “miracle recipe” to solve Burnley’s shortcomings in both boxes.

It comes after the Clarets lost again after putting on a strong performance against Bournemouth over the weekend.

Despite making twenty attempts on the Cherries goal, the hosts were unable to get past Neto.
On the other side, Justin Kluivert took advantage of a defensive blunder to give Andoni Iraoloa’s team an early lead against the run of play, punishing Burnley once more for some shoddy defence.

Although Kompany acknowledges his team is deficient in both areas, he has continuously maintained that his performances this season have been competitive.

“It doesn’t have a miracle recipe,” the Belgian replied when asked how to fix that.

Maintaining confidence in your athletes is crucial. I told them that I could fully own this performance and take full responsibility for all of its elements, both its successes and its shortcomings. It doesn’t bother me at all.

As a group, we found it more challenging to accept the Crystal Palace performance. Even though it wasn’t anticipated, it occurred at a crucial time.

“Now, all it takes to score a goal or prevent the ball from entering the net is faith that the players will turn the corner. Have faith in their ability to succeed.

“It’s an intrinsic aspect of the game that the player experiences.”

In just 27 games, Burnley has allowed 60 goals, a record that is only surpassed by Sheffield United. The only team with less goals is the Blades.
