Scott Parker acknowledges that he feels sorry for Burnley supporters who expressed their annoyance after the goalless draw with QPR.
When the Clarets failed to make their dominance pay against their lesser opponents on Saturday, the Turf Moor supporters let out a few jeers at the final whistle.
Despite dominating with 75 per cent possession and 22 shots on goal, Parker’s men were unable to find that all-important breakthrough.
Despite the result, Burnley remain second in the table and are unbeaten in their last night games.
It’s not, however, the first time Burnley have struggled for a killer edge in the final third, having scored just eight goals in their last 10 games.
Parker responded, “I definitely understand everyone’s frustration,” when asked if he could relate to the supporters’ annoyance. I think there would be frustration if both the players and I could boo. I can get that.
“I always evaluate people and teams based on how they give their all when they cross a line. Even though I’m sorry for each and every one of those players, they went beyond that point and gave it their all.
“There will always be issues, of course, and I will always be the first to critique when they attempt, but I will never, ever sit here and criticise when they are demonstrating pure passion and drive. even if we had suffered a 2-0 defeat.
“Those players were excellent in that regard, but I will be critical at times if we exhibit a lack of quality.”
