Vincent Kompany voices frustration after FA action.

A two-game suspension has been handed down after his red card against Chelsea

Another blow to Burnley’s chances of surviving has come with the announcement that manager Vincent Kompany will serve an immediate touchline ban.

In an eventful 2-2 draw against Chelsea at the end of March, the Clarets’ manager was dismissed from the dugout. Another noteworthy aspect of the same game was the Blues’ response, which came days later, to videos purportedly showing Conor Gallagher that were “out of context.”

Kompany was fined £10,000 and banned for two matches, one of which is to be served immediately and the other suspended until the end of the year, according to an FA statement.

The FA statement also stated that Kompany “admitted his language and/or behaving… was improper and/or abusive and/or insulting towards a match official and/or questioned the integrity of [them]” during a hearing.

Therefore, Kompany will not be available when Burnley plays Brighton & Hove Albion this coming weekend in an attempt to get closer to 17th place in the Premier League standings.

With Nottingham Forest and Luton at 25 points to Burnley’s 19, the Turf Moor team is currently in 19th place, six points from safety.

Though they have won one of their last five league games, Kompany’s team has still struggled to win; they have drawn three of those five games, and their home record is the worst in the top flight.

After leading Burnley to promotion and the second-tier title in the previous season, Kompany was named the EFL and LMA Championship manager of the year. However, he has not been able to duplicate those impressive results in the Premier League.

They have only scored 32 goals in 32 games thus far. They have two important games left: an away match against Sheffield United, the bottom team, on April 20, and a potentially pivotal final-day match at home against Nottingham Forest on May 19, provided they have enough points by then to close the gap and still have a chance to stay up.
