In 2022, Rinomhota was signed by Cardiff City from Reading. Since then, he has made 48 appearances across all competitions for the Bluebirds. The midfielder hasn’t yet found the net, but in that time he has assisted five goals.
In his first season at the club, he was a regular in the midfield, but he has since dropped down the hierarchy. He has only made seven appearances this season, three of them in the Championship. The 26-year-old made his first start of the season in Plymouth Argyle’s 3-1 loss last week.
Although Rinomhota hasn’t played in the Championship since the first day of the season, he has appeared in two of the team’s most recent games. Wales Online claims that he is considered surplus to requirements, though. According to the report, Cardiff City’s position has somewhat changed, but they cannot completely rule out leaving.
His days are numbered
There will probably be new signings this transfer window as manager Erol Bulut is looking to make deals for midfield players. This indicates that Rinomhota is running out of time because he will probably be even lower on the hierarchy.
Bulut’s go-to midfield trio has been Ryan Wintle, Manolis Siopis, and Joe Ralls. It will be difficult for the one-cap Zimbabwe international to remove any of the aforementioned three players, so it might be best for everyone if the team leaves Cardiff City Stadium.
His Championship experience includes playing for Reading and Cardiff City. He will therefore probably have no trouble finding suitors in the second tier or even in the division below. Should he decide to stay in the EFL, his experience will help him find a new club and adjust to his new surroundings.
