Horvath’s dreadful tenure at Forest appears to be coming to an end, as Cardiff is expected to acquire the custodian.
The Bluebirds are now gaining ground on the 28-year-old, who hasn’t played since May, according to Not The Top 20 Pod.
In the Championship Play-Off final, he made his final appearance and assisted Luton Town in earning a Premier League promotion.
Despite being dubbed “brilliant” by Hatters manager Rob Edwards during the previous season, he declined to pay the £3 million required to extend his loan.
Horvath was left off of Forest’s 25-man Premier League roster for this season because Steve Cooper considered him to be the fourth-choice custodian.
He has been training with the Forest team for the first half of 2023–2024, but it could not have been easy for him knowing that he has no chance to play football.
This seems like a smart decision for Horvath, in our opinion, and because Cardiff is now having trouble in the Championship, he should see a lot of playing time.
Horvath joined Forest in the summer of 2021, and he played 11 games for the Reds in the season that saw them gain promotion.
Since Luton abandoned him after he helped them achieve promotion with 20 consecutive clean sheets, things have not been easy.
Now that the Bluebirds are 14th in the division, he will aim to return to the Championship and start strong.
Horvath has no future at Forest, and it appears that this is a move that benefits all sides because the agreement is for a permanent one.
