Cardiff Huddersfeild Hull city in battle for 15-goals striker>

Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports reports that Devante Cole from Barnsley is being pursued by Cardiff City.

Ever since the transfer window opened, the Welsh team has been connected to a striker transfer. The club has also been connected to Bournemouth’s Kieffer Moore, and now Cardiff is trying to move for Barnsley’s Cole.

It’s easy to understand why clubs are interested in signing him given his 15 goals in League One this season. Hull City and Huddersfield Town are keeping an eye on the former Manchester City player, so the Bluebirds are not the only team after him.

After losing Scott Twine to Bristol City today, manager Liam Rosenior is seeking to find a replacement for the midfield player and bring in a striker before the transfer window closes. After a wild first half of the season, Huddersfield Town, who are in the relegation race, has started looking for a goal scorer to try to lead them to safety.

Erol Bulut is keen to bring in a fresh striker for Cardiff City Stadium. Following his joining of Pendikspor, Umut Nayir, a connected target, is now expected to remain in Turkey. Cole appears to be the player the team is attempting to recruit as a backup. Cole is the son of former Manchester United great Andy Cole.

It’s likely that both the Welsh team and the Tigers have an advantage over the Terriers in the race for play-off berths, as they are three and one points behind the leaders, respectively. Transfermarkt estimates that the 28-year-old striker is currently worth £645k, but given that his contract expires this summer, he might get less.

The Tykes may have to accept that sometimes a player can’t resist the allure of the Championship, even though they won’t want to lose one of their best players. The League One team is nine points behind leaders Portsmouth and now sits sixth in the standings.

As of yet, none of the interested teams have made any formal offers. It’s unlikely that any possible agreement will be finalised before the Bluebirds’ next game on Saturday against Plymouth Argyle.

Cole is a player who can definitely step up to the Championship and would be very beneficial to any of the three interested parties. Which team he signs with may depend on his personal preferences, but Cardiff may see this as an opportunity to cut the gap to the top six if they are successful in landing him.

The only thing that will quickly reverse Bulut’s team’s goal deficit compared to 11 of the 12 teams ahead of them is the presence of a reliable goal scorer.
