Derby County are looking to make a permanent transfer move for Ebou Adams after a successful loan spell from Cardiff City.
Derby’s automatic promotion from League One to the Championship was made possible in large part by the Gambian international.
The Rams needed some ball-winning skills in the middle areas, so Adams signed a one-year loan deal in January.
The 28-year-old, who started in all 17 League One games for which he was eligible, swiftly won over Pride Park’s supporters.
On the last day of the season, Paul Warne finally confirmed Derby’s promotion after his team defeated Carlisle 2-0. Derby’s record had improved.
During the festivities, the fans made it obvious what they thought of the midfield player by yelling, “Sign him up.”
Ebou Adams to Derby transfer update
Work behind the scenes on Derby’s season-long challenge in the Championship will soon start, even though the promotion celebrations are still going strong.
Adams is an active midfielder who is returning to Cardiff for the off-season; one of the most important considerations will be whether or not to make the move permanent.
With a transfer bid in the works, it looks like the Rams are working fast to get their new cult favourite.
Reporter Darren Witcoop claims that Derby is getting ready to make a £250,000 offer for Adams in an effort to move forward with a permanent contract.
With just one year left on the loanee’s current contract, the Bluebirds are willing to sell, but they demand twice that amount, or £500,000.
