The search for the murderer of Caversham schoolgirl Emily Salvini has been revived on the 20th anniversary of her death.
The seven-year-old was sleeping in her home in Hemdean Road in the early hours of Saturday, May 3, 1997 when someone poured petrol through the letterbox of the house and set it on fire.
When the house caught fire, Emily’s mother Katie managed to save her son Zach, who was three at the time.
With the assistance of firefighters, the two managed to escape through a window, but Emily tragically perished from smoke inhalation.
Zach and Mrs. Salvini were both severely burned, necessitating weeks of care at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Ayslebury.
