’: 25-year-old Celtic player admits he was very close to leaving this summer

The supporters were taken aback by Liam Scales’ quick ascent to prominence in both the Scottish Premiership and the Champions League with Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, said candidly that one of the major shocks of his career thus far has been Scales’ growth at the team, but he also revealed that he had assumed the 25-year-old would be leaving Celtic this summer.

The Republic of Ireland international’s play for Celtic this season has been “immense,” but according to Scales, there was a chance for a different outcome because he was in negotiations with Aberdeen about a long-term deal.

“I suppose at the beginning of the year I think I came back into pre-season with Celtic and most people thought I was going to go back to Aberdeen,” Scales stated to Football Scotland.

There was discussion about it occurring, so it was kind of in the works. Then, undoubtedly, a few people were hurt.I believe I’ve surprised myself in that I may not have been completely involved at first. However, after sustaining a few injuries, I was thrust into the fray and performed well, maintaining my position ever since.

“I talked to them.”

“I’m glad it worked out better for me now; I was really looking forward to trying to get back there and do that.”

Liam, so are the Celtic supporters. Who would have believed that the solution to Celtic’s long-standing problem of difficulty finding a left-sided defender was there in front of them the entire time?

This week, Scales is serving on his country’s roster once more, and Celtic supporters will be happy that his performance for the team is once again being acknowledged.

According to TBR Celtic, Scales will get a new contract offer from Celtic in the upcoming weeks, and I have to admit that he deserves it.

In other news, Brendan Rodgers talks about what he said to Liam Scales prior to Sunday’s Aberdeen game.
