5 Premier League clubs battle for Celtic star

Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley is being watched by Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Lille, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Wolfsburg, and Leicester City, according to the Scottish Sun. In 12 games in the Scottish Premiership, O’Riley, 22, has six goals and five assists. In the Champions League, he has added two more assists. He inked a new deal that would have kept him at Parkhead until January 2027, but the Scottish Sun thinks the Scottish champions would be interested in offers over £10 million. Any deal is more likely to occur in the summer than in January.

Celtic ‘intensively’ scout Japanese international

Celtic has shortlisted 24-year-old Japanese attacking midfielder Kanji Okunuki, who is now at Nurnberg in the Bundesliga 2 (Sky Sports Germany). Ben Heckner took to X to report that although there hasn’t been a formal offer as of yet, the Hoops have shown a growing amount of interest in the midfield player over the past week.

Okunuki, who was raised in Saitama, began playing for the local club Omiya Ardija at an early age and made it to the first team in January 2018. Gornik Zabrze of Poland has taken notice after scoring 14 goals in nearly 100 matches. Prior to moving to Nurnberg last summer, he spent the entire 2022 season on loan at the Ekstraklasa team. In 15 games for the Bundesliga 2 team, he has four goals to his credit. Last month, he was called up for the first time to the Japan national team.
