Brendan Rodgers makes official goalkeeper announcement.

Brendan Rodgers won’t be looking to sign a goalkeeper during the January transfer window.

Joe Hart has barely missed a match since his move from Spurs in August 2021 but turning 37 in April with his contract expiring at the end of the season his situation is one that will have to be addressed at some stage.Neither Scott Bain or Ben Siegrist have provided any real threat to the former England keeper who has now made over 130 appearances for Celtic.

Speaking with the Daily Record about Hart and the goalkeeping situation, Brendan Rodgers said:

It’s not something we’re currently considering. We need to focus on other areas first.

I love working with Joe; he’s a great guy, but there

will be positions in the summer that we can improve on, and the same in January. I hope he keeps going.

We haven’t discussed it. I believe that at that age, he is just content to be playing. Joe’s family is in the south, so he has made a great effort to move up here.

Any club would be foolish to switch goalkeepers in the middle of the season; given the specialised nature of the role, a summer transfer and some time to adjust would seem more prudent.
