Celtic hours from completing another signing after star’s agreement

Celtic have reached a full agreement over the signing of Aston Villa goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo.

The 22-year-old Finland international is expected to complete a move to the Glasgow giants in the next 24 to 48 hours.

He will then fly out with the Celtic squad to the United States later this week for their pre-season tour.

It is believed that the Hoops want to bring Sinisalo in as back-up and to be mentored by the experienced Schmeichel.

The Villa man spent last season on loan at Exeter City.

The Leicester City legend will be heading to Celtic Park as the number-one goalkeeper next season, but the Hoops want a younger keeper with the potential to eventually take over as first choice.

Celtic are in the market for goalkeepers after Joe Hart chose to retire at the end of last season.

The former England international played a significant role in Celtic’s success throughout his time at the club, and his absence has left a big hole.

Hart played 153 times for the Scottish giants and kept 64 clean sheets, and the Hoops boasted the best defensive record in the Scottish Premiership last season as they retained their title.

The Hoops are also attempting to strengthen the squad at the other end of the pitch, with Norwich City’s Adam Idah the main target following his impressive loan spell at Celtic.
