Celtic hunt to sign 23-year-old forward after Rodgers makes transfer admission’

The Bhoys have made only one signing so far, with Nicolas Kuhn having joined in a £2.8million deal from Rapid Vienna last week.

He probably won’t be the only signing this month as Brendan Rodgers is looking to sign a striker and a left-back to the ranks.

According to a report from Football Scotland, van Hooijdonk could be an option for the Hoops, and Celtic scouts have discussed about the 23-year-old internally.

The striker has been told that he has no future at the Italian club which means the Bhoys have a chance here to snap him up. Bologna, however, will not sanction a loan move, unless it comes with an obligation to buy.

Celtic are yet to make an offer as they are exploring other options as well.

In a recent interview, Rodgers mentioned that he wants to bring in new players.

“So there’s a lot of work going on. “Hopefully, before the window closes, we can improve the squad,” he stated.

It’ll be intriguing to see whether they make a play for the Dutchman, although the former Liverpool manager could have other plans.

Mathias Kvistgaarden has been linked with a move, as has Leeds United’s promising striker Joe Gelhardt.

Celtic could be compelled to sell one or two players if they obtain a good price for them. Cameron Carter-Vickers has been linked with Premier League clubs, and Celtic could want a large transfer fee for him.

Matt O’Riley has sparked interest in La Liga with Girona are the league leaders, but Celtic are unlikely to move him this month unless they receive a large transfer fee.
