Celtic-linked striker bombed out of senior training after contract wrangle, potential bargain

The Bhoys are actively pursuing a move for Adam Idah and are engaged in ongoing talks with Norwich City to try and find a solution to his future.

He registered nine goals in 19 appearances during the second half of last campaign and Celtic previously made an approach for the Republic of Ireland international.

While a waiting game continues to ensue on that front, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Brendan Rodgers to have some alternatives in mind while he still remains firmly contracted to the Canaries.

Now, they could have an opening to land another reported target amid recent developments surrounding his future.

Bristol City striker Tommy Conway is reportedly of interest to Celtic and may be allowed to leave Ashton Gate this summer after refusing to sign a contract extension at Ashton Gate.

Media outlets have claimed the Bhoys may try to land his services in January. They would only need to pay £300,000 in compensation due to his deal expiring in summer 2025.

Per Bristol Post, Robins manager Liam Manning has revealed Conway has been sent to train with their Under-21 side as he continues to pass on the opportunity to renew his terms at the Sky Bet Championship outfit.

He stated: “Tommy has had a contract offer on the table, which is an excellent offer. This has been turned down, and not negotiated with the player expressing a desire to leave.

“The decision has been made for him to train with the U21s, with the focus wholly on players who are fully committed to what we are trying to achieve.”

Tommy Conway could be an option for Celtic

Conway is a familiar face to Scottish football fans after he made a late break for Steve Clarke’s Euro 2024 squad due to Lyndon Dykes’ injury.

Unfortunately, he didn’t make an appearance at the tournament. However, his form at club level was impressive last season.

Celtic need striking reinforcements, with only Kyogo Furuhashi on the books as a senior centre-forward option, and Conway is a rising star with the potential to thrive at Parkhead.

Celtic have been affected by the ongoing global IT outage that is disrupting many operating systems around the world across a wide variety of industries.

Numerous societal segments have virtually come to a standstill, and it is uncertain when these problems will be rectified or when things will resume as usual.

Despite the unusual nature of seeing this on a Celtic site, the club have now announced communication that the news has also impacted them.
