Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham Untied in recent weeks.
Matt O’Riley is reportedly a target for West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur. However, according to Dean Jones of Give Me Sport, the adaptable 22-year-old midfielder is devoted to Celtic and is not thinking about leaving anytime soon.
The Premier League clubs have taken notice of the Danish international, who has been an important member of Celtic. The fact that West Ham United, Tottenham, and other teams want to sign him in the upcoming months is not surprising. However, it appears that the 22-year-old wants to play regular games with the Scottish club in order to continue developing at this time.
The midfielder isn’t in a rush to leave the Scottish club just yet, according to Jones, but he is likely to try himself in the Premier League at some stage. If O’Riley joins Tottenham, he will bring goals and inventiveness to the midfield.
“It’s hardly surprising that teams like Brentford are taking notice of O’Riley. He might fit well with a number of top-tier teams that have a particular style of play, particularly if they base their recruitment primarily on statistics and have been keeping a close eye on O’Riley’s recent performance at Celtic.
“He is an extremely talented football player who has been putting in a lot of effort to return to this level of play. Naturally, considering that he began his career at Fulham, it would be unusual if he ended up at Brentford.
He will eventually put himself to the test in the Premier League. Personally, I don’t think it will be at this time. He seems sincere in his commitment to Celtic’s current endeavours, in my opinion. However, he will eventually feel pressured to move to the Premier League and establish himself there. When that time comes, I believe there will be fierce rivalry to sign him, so it should be fascinating.
Tottenham could certainly use someone like him, especially if they decide to cash in on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during the January transfer window. The Denmark international has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and needs to move on in search of regular playing time.
However, West Ham needs to be more inventive in the middle of the park. The 22-year-old would strengthen West Ham’s midfield with goals, inventiveness, and technical skill. By adding James Ward-Prowse during the summer transfer window, the Hammers addressed the lack of creativity in their midfield, and the Celtic midfielder’s arrival will only make things better.
The financial clout of both Premier League teams will enable them to close the deal. It remains to be seen, though, if they want to make an official approach in January to test the waters for the 22-year-old.
Most players find it very attractive to go for a Premier League team, and the Celtic midfielder might have his eye turned if there is a lucrative proposal on the table. Tottenham and West Ham have started the season well and they will look to push for a successful season.
West Ham will be aiming for UEFA Europa League qualification, while Tottenham will seek to make a comeback to the UEFA Champions League. They might have a great season finale if they sign the appropriate players in January.
