Celtic have done some excellent work over the summer extending the contracts of eight players at the club.
The club got to work to tie down all of their best players immediately after Ange Postecoglou left Celtic to go to Tottenham in the summer.
But, as their contracts gradually expire, a few players still need to resolve their futures at Celtic.
Although David Turnbull and Joe Hart quickly come to mind, The Sun reports that Liam Scales will receive a “bumper” new contract to remain at Celtic.
The 25-year-old defender has been “immense” for his club and country and is presently serving with the Republic of Ireland on international duty.
Scales filled in during a defensive injury crisis for the Hoops, and his impressive performances lit up Celtic Park, solidifying his place in the starting lineup.
Regarding the defender, Brendan Rodgers stated, “I’m sure the club and his representative will look at it.” Rodgers anticipates that the contract negotiations will begin soon.
“I find it uncomfortable when players approach the end of their contracts. All you have to do, in my opinion, is observe that I have selected him to play very regularly in games.
“There are also players back now fit that are pushing him but he’s still performing to a high level.
“Keep showing that you can be consistent and stay focused.
“But there’s no doubt that he’s stepped in and done really well.”
