Celtic transfer exit talk quashed as Rodgers slaps for sale sign on winger’

The Hoops winger is a target for several clubs down south but Parkhead chiefs have yet to receive an official approach.

Liel Abada is one of the Celtic talents that Brendan Rodgers maintains is not up for grabs in January.

Although a number of English clubs are interested in the Hoops winger, Parkhead officials have not yet received an official approach. Yuki Kobayashi, the defender, will be free to leave, and Real Salt Lake City and FC Dallas, two US teams, are expected to pursue him. However, Rodgers is committed to holding onto Abada and key players like Matt O’Riley.

In light of the Middle East situation and the pro-Palestine demonstrations taking place in the Celtic Park stands, there are concerns that the Israel winger is under pressure from his home country to find an exit. The 21-year-old and Rodgers had spoken, and when the wide receiver returned to the team prior to the winter break after an injury, he was warmly welcomed. Abada is important to the Hoops manager, and he will oppose any efforts to sign him, much like Atletico Madrid did with O’Riley.

There’s nothing on Liel, Aaron Rodgers stated before to Cameron Carter-Vickers agreeing to a new five-and-a-half year contract. I am aware that tales about him have been created for various motives, most likely in an attempt to speculate about Liel’s recent circumstances.

“It’s very, very simple. Liel was out injured for a long period of time, he has gone back in, and again he is a player I am excited to work with, that I can improve. He’s a player that I spoke to very early on, and he comes to me and we speak, and his focus is very much on being here at Celtic and developing.

“Now, it’s natural with the difficulties that are happening in his homeland, you can’t ignore that. But he’s not someone that we want to sell. He’s a real integral part of what we want to do here, and I’ve always said before when the availability of players is there and you have the right types of players, the football will look different.

“You can see the difference he makes to our team when he returns on his own.” I won’t be eager to lose that, therefore.

The Scottish champions are thought to be amenable to a trade, but in the meanwhile, Kobayashi is at the centre of an MLS brawl. Since Rodgers returned to Celtic, he has had difficulty getting into the first team of the game. The 23-year-old hasn’t played for him, and the previous season was his last appearance for Celtic’s first squad. In January of last year, Kobayashi transferred from Vissel Kobe to Celtic.

He came in under Ange Postecoglou but failed to make the same impact as he fellow countrymen Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate. It has been a frustrating spell although the chance to get playing in America could get his career back up and running.

Yosuke Ideguchi, a fellow Japanese midfielder, joined Vissel Kobe earlier this month after leaving Celtic. Before the transfer deadline expires, a number of Rodgers’ periphery players may go. Two or three English Championship teams, including West Bromwich Albion, are interested in Mikey Johnston.

Gustaf Lagerbielke is desired by Italian teams Verona, Genoa, and Leece, while Melbourne City and Sydney are interested in Marco Tilio. He is currently participating in the Asian Games with Australia.

Celtic could also let Benjy Siegrist go out on-loan. The big keeper saw a move to Sturm Graz collapse earlier in the window.
