The former Celtic star has given his take on whether Tierney could return to Celtic Park one day.
So, what has Scott Brown said about Celtic and Kieran Tierney? Let’s take a look.
Scott Brown would love Kieran Tierney back at Celtic
Scott Brown, on the other hand, has been gushing about Kieran Tierney. The commentator worked with the Scotland international left-back at Celtic and would want to see him return to the club.
Tierney was a Celtic player from 2005 until 2019, when he went to Arsenal for a fee of £25 million (The Glasgow Evening Times).
The left-back won the Scottish Premiership four times, the Scottish Cup twice, and the Scottish League Cup twice during his time at Celtic.
Tierney has had a difficult time at Arsenal, as well as injury problems. He is now on loan with Real Sociedad in Spain.
Brown, a former Celtic and Scotland international midfielder, feels the £110,000-a-week (SalarySport) left-back might return to the Hoops in the future.
“I’d love to see him back at Celtic,” Brown told The Glasgow Evening Times of Tierney. All of the supporters adore him, and he has a great following at the club. He had to make the difficult decision to depart because the club means so much to him.
“But, at the same time, he’s been gone for that long and has seen different things.” Maybe he wants to try new things right now.
“There are many clubs in England that would take him.” To be honest, there are clubs all around the world that would welcome him. However, Celtic have that pull over him which is a great thing. I’d love to see it happen one day. You never know.”
Kierney, the Arsenal left-back, is unlikely to return to Celtic anytime soon, in my opinion.
Tierney is 26 years old and has his prime years ahead of him. The left-back has already demonstrated his ability to perform well in the Premier League. Aston Villa are rumoured to be interested in him.
The left-back is now a member of La Liga. Tierney would not return to the Scottish Premiership at this point in his career, in my opinion.
Tierney might perhaps return to Celtic in his mid-30s or even early 30s, but I don’t see him doing so right now.
