‘Looks like a true player,’ replaces ‘outstanding’ Celtic man worth £3.5 million vs Kilmarnock

So why not? The Honduran has been in terrific form for Celtic, and if not for a terrible VAR decision against Lazio on Wednesday night, Palma would have driven the Hoops to their first Champions League victory since 2013.

However, it was not to be, but the £3.5m Celtic player seemed unfazed. Palma produced a spectacular goal against Killie that left former Celtic striker Simon Donnelly speechless.

“He looks like he’s got a real bit of technique on that right side,” Donnelly stated [Official Celtic FC Podcast]. We spotted the cross last week in Motherwell. We saw his finish against Lazio, though it was ruled out. It was a satisfying conclusion.

“Today was an excellent finish from the box’s edge.” He appears to be a serious player. He stands out from the rest of our wide players, all of whom have an electric pace.

“This guy enjoys football.” He enjoys working in the park. He exhibited some speed today; I wouldn’t call him lightning fast, but he has a sharp mind.

“I believe he’ll be able to connect with guys like [Reo] Hatate who work inside.” And that finish, I mean, if he can do that week in and week out, we’ve got a great player on our hands.”

Palma has only had three true opportunities to show what he can do in the green and white hoops, and it’s safe to say he’s taken them all.

His goal against Motherwell was crucial in securing the win at Fir Park, and despite the loss, his contribution to the Lazio game was also extremely impressive.

But it was against Kilmarnock that the winger showed the brightest. He appeared direct, (nearly) pacey, and that right-foot strike was beautiful.

If Palma maintains his current form under Brendan Rodgers, Celtic supporters are in for a treat.

‘I’ll be honest,’ says another: Barry Ferguson did not rate the £6 million Celtic man, but he has suddenly become a’man mountain’ for the club.
