Matt O’Riley and Celtic’s transfer stance on Inter Milan interest finaly revealed January’

The Hoops playmaker is subject of interest from the Serie A giants

Celtic will not sell Matt O’Riley in January, even if Inter Milan comes calling.

Last week, it was revealed that the Champions League finalists were considering a loan-to-buy move for Denmark international O’Riley. The idea calls for O’Riley to stay in the San Siro for six months, with Inter obligated to buy in the summer. The Celts, on the other hand, are not in a rush to offload their star player, having just signed a long-term contract with him.

While O’Riley is aware of the interest from Italy, the Daily Record reports that the playmaker is content at Parkhead and has no plans to quit the Scottish champions.

O’Riley – a bargain £1.5million signing from MK Dons in January 2022 – has always underlined his commitment to the Hoops despite links with clubs in England and across Europe.

And, rather than selling arguably Scotland’s best player, Brendan Rodgers wants to strengthen his squad for the second part of the season. Celts are anticipated to spend big in January, with a £40 million-plus Champions League windfall on the line for this year’s champions.

Hacken midfielder Romeo Amane is on the Premiership leaders’ radar, according to Football Scotland, while Wolves forward Fabio Silva is a loan option. Tiago Araujo of Estoril, who is valued at £4 million, is another name on Rodgers’ shortlist.
