The veteran manager, who began his coaching career in 1980, took charge of the Reds last week on an interim basis until the end of the season, following the sacking of Barry Robson last month.
Neil Warnock thinks teams like Aberdeen can compete with Celtic and Rangers at the top if they take the proper approach.
After Barry Robson was fired last week, the seasoned manager—who began coaching in 1980—took over for the Reds. They fell 2-1 to Rangers, giving up two goals that boss Bruce Warnock subsequently claimed could have been prevented.
Despite a difficult start to the season, Warnock believes that other elite Scottish clubs can eventually catch up with the top two. Prior to his arrival, he witnessed the Dons secure a well-earned point in a 1-1 draw against Celtic, according to the Daily Record.
Ahead of Wednesday’s match with Motherwell, he shared: “I think it is possible to break into the big-timers, but I think it would take anybody time to do that.
“After two or three games, I’ve seen that some of the players that play underneath me are enjoying the challenge of being up here. That, in my opinion, is crucial for teams like Aberdeen, Hearts, and Hibs that are contending for the top two.”I have enough work ahead of me assessing my players, selecting who will play and who won’t, and attempting to get the most out of the team.”
Following his maiden Scottish Cup victory as manager last weekend over Bonnyrigg Rose, Warnock acknowledged the financial divide between Aberdeen and the Old Firm.
He said, “I think it’s a mixture of things,” hinting at offering the Pittodrie executives an honest assessment of their chances of success.
“Excellent hiring must be done in consultation with the boss. After that, opinions really are everything. As managers, we all have our own preferences, so my assessment of a player would likely differ from another’s.

“During a game, I prefer my club leaders to be able to stand up and be counted. With the exception of Shinnie, we don’t have many of those, but they are a sincere group, so I’ll let that go.
“At some point, Dave Cormack and Alan Burrows will ask me questions on certain topics, and I will answer them honestly. They won’t have their eyes opened, but I would absolutely strive to tell the truth.”
