and Jenz’s wives met up in the stands but their reunion turned sour after a disgraceful incident with a boozed-up punter.
Following allegations from Moritz Jenz’s wife that she was harassed for nursing during Union Berlin’s match against Wolfsburg, the team was forced to issue an apology.
The wives of Jenz and Josip Juranovic, Jenz’s former Celtic colleague, got together in the stands to watch the Bundesliga match. Jenz invested six months in
month period on loan in the Scottish Premiership, was playing for and his wife Steffani was there to meet with Lana Juranovic, wife of ex-Hoops hero Josip, who
moved in a £7.5 million transfer last year. But an incident at the game has caused outrage in Germany after Steffani Jenz outlined the harassment that happened to her during the Bundesliga clash.
She said: “I was breastfeeding my 11-month-old son in the family area of the main stand when suddenly a man who was over 70 years old with an angry face came up to me, spoke to me in German and made very rude signs that we had to leave.
“He had a beer in his hand and came very close to me. I asked him if there was anything I could do for him since the table was empty. After that, he got even louder and made signs again that we had to leave. I had a little baby in my arms and this man looks very angry and is coming too close to my baby.
“After that, he gave me a crude lip-smack, tossed a toy at me, and kept gesturing for me to go. When I spoke with the security personnel, they were unaware of how serious this offence was. I requested that the man speak with the security guard.
“I watched him approach him, and after five seconds, they both burst out laughing. All this man wanted was to annoy me and prevent me from nursing. Even in 2024, a woman would not feel comfortable nursing in a setting similar to a stadium’s family area. Additionally, security guards laughed at me and didn’t seem to believe me when I begged for assistance.
“I sincerely hope that this incident’s prominence would aid in raising public awareness of the problem. Above all, I hope that everyone who sees something similar will speak up to protect the victim instead of keeping quiet. However, I will undoubtedly keep nursing and make an effort to view this as a rare incident.
Now that Jenz has been mistreated, Union has requested Lana Juranovic to set up a meeting to apologise and to try to find the man who did it as well as the security guard who was involved. In a statement, the club promised to look into the matter. “Dear Steffani, we are really sorry to hear about this situation,” they said. Everywhere should be safe for women to breastfeed their children without discrimination. particularly in a family setting. We’re attempting to make things clear.
“We will work through this incident with our employees and make them even more aware of how to react appropriately if someone feels harassed at one of our events.
