Nicolas Kuhn says things will be “a little bit different” for him at Celtic in the coming season after not quite making the impact he’d have liked last term.
After joining from Rapid Vienna for £3 million in January, Kuhn made 18 games and shown promising moments but lacked true consistency.
In addition to scoring in the Scottish Cup semifinal and the home victory over St Johnstone, he did manage to secure a pivotal goal that allowed them to draw even at Pittodrie.
After adjusting and recovering from surgery in the weeks before his transfer, there is a lot of optimism that he can now go on and contribute for the Bhoys.
After working out more during his vacation, Kuhn claims that his career with the Celtics is just getting started.
Nicolas Kuhn eager to make Celtic impact
“By the end of the season, I had put the weight back on, but I was still at a new club in a new country,” he told the Daily Mail. It wasn’t an easy moment for the entire club when I arrived either.
“I was aware that it would be crucial for me to return for the entire preseason and establish myself alongside the other players on the team.” Thus, this year will be a little bit different.
“I travelled to Greece for a few days before returning to Germany.” Throughout the summer, I have constant communication with my personal trainer in Germany, and he maintains contact with the Celtic staff. It was flawless. They sent me a plan and I did all the work during my vacation so that I’m prepared.
“Sometimes you can eat a burger or something like that, but it wasn’t the main dish! I’m in a good place and the summer was good, but now I’m here to get back to work.
“It feels like my Celtic career starts now. That is the goal. I just want to have a good pre-season, stay fit, and show everyone. I hope it’s time for the real thing after the introduction.”
Kuhn must aim for a double-digit Celtic season
To be a successful winger at Celtic you have to produce consistently in the final third. The most acclaimed wide talents at the Bhoys in recent years, such as Jota and Liel Abada, hit double-figures for goals or assists – and ideally both.
