The former England and Manchester City player will be 37 when his three-year contract expires in the summer at Celtic. Brendan Rodgers has praised Hart in a club statement.
Joe Hart, the goalie for Celtics, intends to hang up his cleats at the conclusion of current year.
When the former Manchester City and England player’s three-year deal with Celtic expires this summer, he will be 37 years old.
Since making his debut for the Shrewsbury first team in April 2004, Hart has amassed 75 caps for his country. He won key trophies in Scotland and England, including the Scottish Cup with Celtic last season, and joined the ranks of Andrei Kanchelskis and Sir Kenny Dalglish.
In his rookie campaign, he was a major player as the Celtics won both the league and the Viaplay Cup, reclaiming the championship from the Rangers.
The Celtic sport Club released the following statement: “Today, we are excited to share some news from our custodian Joe Hart, who has announced that he will be retiring from sport at the end of this season.
“Joe recently told the club about his decision, and he wanted to meet with Jamie Edwards, his longtime buddy and mental performance coach, to discuss his choice with the team’s supporters. The entire Celtic team would like to express their sincere gratitude to Joe for his outstanding and continuous support of the team.”
On the official Celtics website, manager Brendan Rodgers gave Hart high praise: “Joe has had a wonderful career, and I know the game will miss him greatly when he eventually hangs up his football boots in the summer.
Joe deserves a tonne of credit and congrats for everything he has accomplished in football. Aside from Celtic, he has been an incredible addition to the game at the highest levels both nationally and internationally.
Above all, though, he is an amazing man who is a pleasure to work with. I know that during his career, he has been a terrific teammate to many, and he is a player who always gives it his all. His daily work ethic serves as an inspiration to everyone in football.
