Celtic legend want to take over as manager of Scottish Championship strugglers

Scott Brown, the captain of Scotland and Fromer Celtic, wish to be  the new manager of Ayr United, who are currently in ninth place after a disappointing first half of the season.

Ayr United, who are struggling to avoid relegation from the Scottish Championship, have appointed Celtic icon Scott Brown as their new manager.

The Honest Men, who are presently ranked ninth, have declared that Scott Brown will lead them in their ongoing struggle to maintain their position in the second tier. This is the 38-year-old’s first stint in the dugout as the team’s decision-maker since Fleetwood Town fired him in September after the team’s disappointing start to the season.

After being fired earlier this month, Lee Bullen is replaced by the former internation from Scotland. Contracts with a duration through June 2026 have been signed by Brown and Steven Whittaker, his assistant.

Club Chairman David Smith made the following statement when the news was released: “I am thrilled to welcome Scott and Steven as the new management team. After a hectic eight days interviewing a number of highly credible individuals informally and formally, Scott and Steven emerged as the club’s top picks because of their many admirable qualities.

They know exactly what they want to get through to the players, and they will make the most of the staff group we’ve put together to help players get better and produce better performances and outcomes on the pitch. They get along well both personally and professionally, and they were quite transparent about how their dynamic operates.

We are thrilled to have them on board and are eager to collaborate with them in the future.

Graeme Mathie, Managing Director, continued, “I’m incredibly excited to work with Scott and Steven.

After having successful playing careers, both Scott and Steven—Steven at Dunfermline in the Scottish Championship and Scott at Aberdeen before joining Fleetwood as Head Coach—took on coaching duties in addition to earning their coaching credentials.

Although we won’t be able to give them the luxury of some of the resources they’ve previously enjoyed, they have demonstrated the ability to adapt to the environments they have been working in when necessary. Having both competed at the highest levels, they are both aware of the standards required to be successful.

For Ayr United, this is an exciting appointment, and I’m sure that this will go down in history as an exciting time in our journey.
