Celtic lose £8.6k-a-week : Ange Postecoglou admired

celtic have received an offer for a player who Ange Postecoglou admired during his time as manager, according to an update from Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

The Hoops are getting ready to defend their Scottish Premiership championship once more, but Brendan Rodgers understands how important it is to bolster his team in order to both fend off Rangers, a fierce competitor, and ensure that they have the best possible roster for the Champions League.
Celtic is expected to pursue Burnley centre-back Dara O’Shea. Other rumours include that Wolves left-back Hugo Bueno, former Hops striker Adam Idah, and Royal Antwerp star Michel-Ange Balikwisha are potential targets.

The Scottish powerhouses are thought to have taken a fresh tack in their pursuit of Bueno, perceiving him as an exceptional option to bolster their left-back lineup.
Tanner Tessman, an American international who is presently playing for recently promoted Serie A team Venezia, has also been linked to a move to Celtic during the current transfer window. Although he has just earned one cap for his nation, he will be looking to make more of an impression before the 2026 World Cup.
According to Sky Sports journalist Joseph, who spoke on X, Celtic has received a loan offer for Stephen Welsh from Belgian team KV Mechelen. This implies that the 24-year-old may leave this summer due to interest from English Championship clubs abroad.

Given his recent lack of playing time, it actually seems like the perfect time for Welsh to be, if not permanently, transferred away from Celtic and placed on loan elsewhere. The defender only made five appearances in the Scottish Premiership last season, and all five came off the bench. However, he did miss a significant amount of time due to an ankle injury.
The centre back might be a solid addition for another team, even though Rodgers may not see much of a future for him at Parkhead. He averaged 2.8 successful aerial duels per game the previous season, which was the fifth-best total in the team. Postecoglou even praised him once, saying the following about him:

Welsh has made significant progress. That’s what I anticipate from every player. He returned for the preseason and put in a lot of effort. We’re putting out a challenge to him to improve. He has undoubtedly improved from the previous year, and maybe he is aware that we’ll be pushing for even more from him.”

Moving away would probably be in everyone’s best interests because the £8,600-per-week Welshman has never started more than 10 league games in a season for Celtic, which says volumes about his squad status.
