Celtic makes an incredible signing for £10m star for ace replacement

Due to uncertainty surrounding Matt O’Riley’s future, Celtic are reportedly looking to spend up to £10 million this summer to replace the Danish midfielder.

Celtic transfer news

The Bhoys have so far had a very quiet summer transfer season, adding Paulo Bernardo on a permanent basis, signing Viljami Sinisalo as a backup, and finding Kasper Schmeichel to replace Joe Hart. With those three new faces, Rodgers’ team will aim to win the Scottish Premiership once more.

Bernardo said on Celtic’s official website, “It’s amazing for me and it’s a big step in my career,” following his decision to make the loan move from the previous season permanent. We won the cup and the championship last season, which I greatly loved and marked my first two professional titles.

“I love the atmosphere at Celtic Park and away in all the games. Celtic is a big, big club. The fans feed us in the game so we can score one more goal or win the game in the last minute.”

Bernardo might just be the beginning in terms of other arrivals. Should O’Riley depart this summer, Sky Sports reports that Celtic are considering a move to sign Daniel Gazdag from Philadelphia Union in a deal that could be worth a staggering £10 million. There has been a lot of interest in the Dane, especially from Atalanta, who are said to have made up to three bids for the Celtic star.

Although losing O’Riley would be devastating, it appears like Glasgow is sensibly planning to replace their midfield player in the event that he does leave.

“Incredible” Gazdag could replace O’Riley

If O’Riley does leave this summer, it won’t be simple to replace him, but Celtic Park made a wise choice in signing Gazdag. The Bhoys may be able to sign an MLS star who has been a surprise replacement for O’Riley for a mere £10 million. Given that O’Riley scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in the last campaign, replacing him would be the major worry for Rodgers if he loses O’Riley. However, Gazdag has more than demonstrated his goal-scoring ability.

In his 21 MLS games last season, the Hungarian scored 14 goals and provided one assist. In the Scottish Premiership, he might have the opportunity to repeat that performance. As a result, Philadelphia manager Jim Curtin received a lot of praise, saying on the official Major League Soccer website: “Dániel does so much work defensively for us that a lot of players can’t match.” He links our back four to our forwards so well, and his goals and assists are amazing, but I also appreciate the defensive effort he does.
So, Rodgers’ team might still be in a good position to win the Scottish Premiership in the upcoming season if Celtic can turn a profit by selling O’Riley and then going after Gazdag.
