Celtic need to pay £60m to secure deal*

During the summer transfer window, Celtic has the chance to sign Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo.

The Daily Record (6 February, page 60) reports that the Bhoys have been informed that they have the option to sign midfielder Bernardo for approximately £6 million at the end of the current campaign.

The 22-year-old midfielder came to the Hoops from Benfica during the summer on loan. After Reo Hatate’s injury, he took some time to adjust to Parkhead before emerging as a “key player” for Brendan Rodgers.

According to The Daily Record, Bernardo is content in Glasgow and desires to relocate there permanently. Similarly, Celtic may decide to sign Adam Idah on a long-term basis at the conclusion of the season.

Idah left Norwich City in January to join on loan. The players will ultimately decide what happens to them, although the Bhoys can now sign them if they so choose.

In December, during the Old Firm game, Bernardo scored for Celtic. Idah just made his Pittodrie debut as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Aberdeen.

The forward had a significant impact on the match, and Rodgers will evaluate him carefully in the upcoming months before determining whether to sign him long-term.

When Rodgers stated that the Hoops could have performed better during the January transfer window, he didn’t disguise his annoyance. He believed there were chances to improve the squad’s depth and calibre, but Celtic’s transfer window was somewhat quiet.

Although they are still the favourites to win the Scottish Premiership, that is no longer a given. Rangers have closed the deficit, therefore we have an exciting title fight on our hands.

It seems like the Gers are playing with a tonne of confidence while Celtic are having difficulty right now. This season has a lot of football still to play, and it’s too soon to judge who will win the championship.
