Celtic owner Outlines “Massive factor” That Has Been Detrimental To Celtic*

Following their well-deserved 2-0 victory over St. Mirren on Sunday, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was filled with pride for his team. With this comprehensive win, The Bhoys now have eight victories from a potential nine across all competitions.

Perhaps because of the manager’s recent struggles with injuries, this extraordinary record has been disregarded. Although Reo Hatate has missed the majority of the season due to injury, there are currently several problems on defence.
While Greg Taylor has missed the last few games due to a groyne strain, Alistair Johnston is suffering with a facial fracture. The American’s absence has also left a huge void in the middle of the backline: Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Celtic has not benefited at all from these absences, as manager Rodgers recently stated when describing how big of an impact it has been to be without important players at the back: “It’s a massive factor” (The Celtic Way).

“Especially with two center-halves who were teammates for almost two seasons.”

At the club, Carl Starfelt and Carter-Vickers forged a strong alliance. When they first started together, the two never lost a league match.

But since then, players like Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh, and Liam Scales have joined the team and performed admirably. Although their recent efforts are to be applauded, Carter-Vickers’ return in a few weeks will be a significant boost.
