Celtic want to sign Leeds attacker in January transfer swoop –

Leeds United ace Joe Gelhardt has been attracting interest from Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their website on 8 January that the Leeds man is wanted by both Old Firm clubs amid speculation that he could quit Elland Road this month.

Gelhardt has found game time difficult to come by so far this season, having made just six Championship appearances under Daniel Farke, but both Scottish clubs are in need of reinforcements up front in January.

The report does not specify if Gelhardt would be interested in a loan or a permanent move, but according to a report from The Athletic [21 December], the striker would be willing to leave Elland Road on a loan in January if the right opportunity presented itself.

Leeds, on the other hand, might be searching for a long-term solution to his playing problem in order to get the striker off the books, raise some cash and improve their financial stability in the wake of last season’s relegation.

Gelhardt has been informed by Leeds that he will stay with the team through the January transfer window, but the right offer from either Rangers or Celtic could prove tempting, according to that same report from The Athletic.

With both teams in need of offensive reinforcements to bolster their title bid, Gelhardt might be given a lot of responsibility in Glasgow, which might entice him to force through the move to Scotland in the coming month if Leeds refuse to let him go.

Chris Sutton was astounded by a “special” Leeds star, according to other Leeds United news. Suggested for You
