Football Insider has been informed by sources that Celtic is unlikely to welcome a wave of new players in January following their elimination from the Champions League at the group stage.
Following the 2-0 away loss at Lazio on Tuesday, November 28, the Hoops’ European elimination was officially announced.
However, it’s thought Brendan Rodgers’ team has the money to complete deals should the ideal player become available during the winter transfer window.
Last month, on November 13, Celtic revealed their annual report, which included information about their nearly £41 million pre-tax profit for the 2022–2023 season.
Football Insider has learned, however, from a reliable source that the Parkhead club will not rush into any January acquisitions.
In the most recent summer transfer window, Rodgers’ team made significant progress with the addition of ten new players and the departure of eleven others.
Celtic won’t participate in any European football in the second half of the 2023–24 season because they will finish last in Group E of the Champions League.
With their comfortable lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership, the Hoops are not thinking of changing their January spending policy, which they typically follow.
Joe Hart, the team’s first-choice custodian, has a contract that expires at the end of this season, so a new custodian may be joining.
Last month (25 November), Football Insider disclosed that Celtic is intensifying their efforts to acquire a custodian during the January transfer window.
