my fear: Andy Walker offers to brutally

For the next two Celtic and Rangers matches, away supporters could make a return to Ibrox and Parkhead, respectively – Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist sent out a plea.

This comes after a recent report in The Times, which suggested that there has been a ‘significant development’ in discussions between both parties, with the SPFL acting as a peacemaker.

As a result of it, up to 750 away Celtic fans could travel to Ibrox for the meeting on April 6.

But Andy Walker is having none of it, as he stated that there will never be a return to the good old days of having up to 8000 fans in the away end, as he told Go Radio.

This away fan fiasco has been doing the rounds since 2018 when Rangers were constantly the second best side, which then led to the opposition slashing the allocation and that eventually resulted in no fans at all.

Upon this latest update, Andy Walker was pretty blunt and straightforward in what he thinks about it all.

Celtic and Rangers away fans
“I fear it will be a token gesture,” said Walker. “I don’t think you are ever going back to seven or eight thousand. I don’t think the clubs want it.

“That would be great (on the possibility of it being 2.5k fans). But my fear is that it will be a token gesture or another seven to eight hundred.

“I am sure we all watched Sunderland v Newcastle and just the sight of the red and white up against the black and white. The sheer colour of it and the edge to it, which is always there.

“But with Celtic-Rangers, honestly, I just don’t see it coming back so. I think it’s dreadful, but that’s what you are up against.”

Celtic hunting for more trophies
The Bhoys have won the title, and many more, like this before, so fans or no fans, the team know that they can get the result.

That was proven when derby day king Kyogo Furuhashi struck the winner at Ibrox earlier on in the campaign before he was the difference-maker once again at Parkhead.

When it comes to this part of the season, as Brendan Rodgers knows too well, this is where Celtic step-up and deliver the goods.

And with destiny in the club’s hands, then fans will be expecting far more consistent performances from here on in.
