Peter Grant questions Brendan Rodgers’ St Johnstone anger;:

Former Celtic midfielder Peter Grant has expressed his reservations about manager Brendan Rodgers’ harsh criticism of his players during half-time in their recent game against St Johnstone.

Grant thinks Rodgers’ doubts about the players’ dedication were unwarranted, even though the club eventually triumphed 3-1 on the road and then went on to defeat Hibernian 4-1.

Grant said on Go Radio that although Celtics’ offensive performance may have been subpar, he didn’t think the players’ commitment or attitude was a problem.

“Are you aware of anything? I didn’t think they were that horrible, so I was shocked when he mentioned that. They were terrible at their last ball when they entered the final third, let me tell you that.

At the half of the St Johnstone match, Brendan Rodgers said he was the angrier coach he had ever been.

Grant praised Rodgers for the impact of his changes during the game, even though he was critical of his strategy.

“Yang went into good areas, so I wasn’t surprised when he took him off.” He kept coming in too far because they made the pitch so narrow. Subsequently, he never placed his cross inside the box after getting past someone.

“As a manager, you look for players who have an impact on the game, and when he made the substitutions, that’s great credit to the manager.”

They got off to a strong start in my opinion. They moved the ball swiftly enough while maintaining a certain tempo. However, they made some extremely bad decisions in the final third.

“I have to admit, I don’t think he could have questioned their attitude.”

Whether Grant approves of it or not isn’t really important. Whatever Brendan said in the changing room on Sunday was effective, and it motivated a strong showing and outcome against Hibs on Wednesday.
